Bitmain is revealing the groundbreaking Antminer S21 at WDMS 2023. Here is what to expect

Recent sources have brought to light Bitmain's exciting plans for the upcoming 2023 World Digital Mining Summit (WDMS) in Hong Kong this September. The prominent mining rig manufacturer is gearing up to introduce a state-of-the-art bitcoin (BTC) miner, named the Antminer S21. This innovative device has captured Bitmain's enthusiasm as it takes the spotlight as the industry's most advanced machine, signifying a significant leap forward into the era of 1X joules per terahash (J/T).

Bitmain’s popularity is largely ascribed to its innovations in efficiency and power. Over the last decade, the hash rate of Antminers has increased by over three orders of magnitude. Power efficiency is also more than a hundred times better than when Antminers were first introduced.

Bitcoin mining profitability heavily depends on mining technology innovations, the cost of power, servicing costs, and a few other potential variables. One way that large-scale mining enterprises and upstart operations alike can improve their profitability is by getting the best prices on high-end mining hardware.

Back in May, the dynamic landscape of cryptocurrency mining witnessed an intriguing move by MicroBt, a notable rival of Bitmain. They introduced a cutting-edge hydro-cooling Whatsminer machine, designated as the M53S++. This impressive creation made waves with its exceptional performance, capable of delivering an impressive 320 terahash per second (TH/s), all while maintaining an admirable energy efficiency ratio of 22 J/T.

Comparatively, Bitmain, a prominent player in the field, showcased its top-performing miners, the Antminer S19 Pro Hydro and the Antminer S19 XP Hydro. These machines achieved commendable hash rates of 184 TH/s and 257 TH/s respectively. However, what set Bitmain's XP bitcoin mining machine apart was its remarkable energy efficiency, with its consumption nearly touching the 20 J/T mark, specifically registering at 20.8 J/T. This development emphasized the intense competition and innovative strides that were shaping the world of bitcoin mining.

What is the latest Bitmain ASIC?

The latest and most powerful ASIC miners from Bitmain are the Antminer 19 series. In January of 2022, Bitmain announced the Antminer S19 Pro+ Hyd., a liquid-cooled mining device that enables an impressive 112 TH/s of computing power. Introducing the Antminer S19 XP Hyd, a marvel that once graced the tech horizon with its revolutionary approach to immersion cooling. This extraordinary machine, released in January 2023, boasted an astonishing computing power of 255 TH/s.

The 19 series of Antminers came in three earlier formulations, too—the T19, S19, and S19 Pro. Of the three, the S19 Pro is the most powerful, reaching up to 110 TH/s of hashing power. Meanwhile, the T19 gets 84 TH/s and the S19 reaches 95 TH/s. Bitmain tends to announce only odd-numbered serieses of Antminers, which is why the next generation of products is predicted to be the S21.

Taking cues from Intel’s new ASIC mining chip

One major development in the ASIC landscape is Intel’s Blockscale chip, unveiled in 2022. One of the most attractive aspects of Intel as a player in the blockchain space is their extensive experience with optimized hashing functions. A particularly appealing aspect of the Blockscale SHA-256 hardware accelerator is its customizable mining, which lets each system be customized to meet users’ requirements. Unlike providers of other major ASIC mining rigs, Intel provides customers with just the ASIC chips themselves—each capable of 580 gigahashes per second.

The customizable nature of Intel’s chip offers a path that future Antminers may follow. Given Bitmain’s history of producing mining hardware that greatly surpasses the hashing power of competitors, adding Intel-inspired customizability could represent a new frontier in mining ushered in by the arrival of the Antminer S21.

Bitmain miners for other cryptocurrencies

Crypto mining tends to focus on Bitmain’s S series of Antminers, and for good reason—they’re among the most powerful miners on the market. Bitcoin is still the gold standard among mineable cryptocurrencies, offering the most consistent returns over time. However, Bitmain has also supplied extremely powerful miners for other Proof-of-Work cryptocurrencies.

The Antminer E9 is an EtHash miner announced by Bitmain in July of 2022. It offers a top-of-the-line 2400M hashrate and a power consumption rating of 1920W to allow for competitive sustainability and profitability. The E9 benefits from the same modular design as the flagship Bitcoin miners and is constructed using materials that offer the highest-standard of durability. Of course, the utility of these miners has been drastically reduced since the Ethereum merge.

Where to buy Bitcoin miners and other algorithm ASICs

Compared to other significant tech hardware investments, mining rigs can have relatively short lifespans. Profitability can be greatly influenced by small developments and changes in prices and legislation, so miners need to be flexible and adaptable.

To capitalize on market conditions, miners will typically seek consistent access to the best possible prices on hardware, as both buyers and sellers. Therefore, it is valuable to conduct hardware transactions through a source miners can trust.

One of the most straightforward and stress-free methods of acquiring mining rigs is through Asic Jungle—an established broker that provides mining hardware to some of the largest public and private mining firms, in addition to large financial institutions, oil and gas companies, and more.

Growing Institutional Adoption of Bitcoin Mining

Despite recent sustained downturns in the market as a whole, consistent growth in institutional adoption has continued to be a reason to feel confident in the future of Bitcoin.

The institutional support for Bitcoin mining, in particular, has meant that even amidst challenges regarding prices, energy costs, and legislation, Bitcoin mining has continued hitting new highs. Increasingly, investment firms have shown interest in exposure to Bitcoin mining, too. Hash Price-based derivatives can give miners the ability to hedge the risk associated with their mining operations.

In a dynamic industry like this one, streamlined access to the latest and most powerful mining hardware at the best prices is essential. Downturns in the market can offer prospective miners the ability to build their operations in an ideal landscape, while costs are low.

Asic Jungle’s customer-centered approach is directly engaged with the concerns and opportunities miners face, and puts miners fully in control over their own operations. In the event that Bitmain releases an Antminer S21 Bitcoin ASIC miner, Asic Jungle will be there as the best place to secure the mining hardware you need.
